Sin is a process.  It starts from a single sin that you are curious of and had done it. You do it slowly and repeatedly and until such time you will hold on to that sin and never let it go. Then you will have a difficulty in letting it go.

In Genesis 13, Lot and Abraham had herds and flocks which was very abundant until the land cannot sustain it. So Abraham made a plan that they will separate. Wherever  Lot go Abraham will go opposite. When Lot saw a land which is abundant he went there without hesitation and built a camp not knowing the people were wicked.

Why Lot went there? Let us see in these three points why Lot went to the land of Sodom and Gommorah.

1. He was worldy in his desire (v. 10)

He saw that the land was well-watered which is good for his herds and flocks. He went there without asking God. Sodom and Gommorah was a place of homosexuals and lesbians. He didn’t know that the people at that place were wicked.

2. He was wrong in his decision (v. 11)

“So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan…”

What Lot saw?

-Easy Living
Abundant Resources: which is advantage for his flocks and herds
-Independence
Lot was separated with Abraham
-Excitement
Men Sodom were wicked and sinners

3. He was weak in his decisions (v.12)
“while Lot settled in the cities of the valley, and moved his tents as far as Sodom.”

Long ago when Lot was with Abraham they will always build an altar. But when they were separated Lot forgot to build an altar. So he suffers as time went by.

So believers, are we like Lot?? Hope we’re not, let us live the life that is pleasing to the Lord Jesus Christ. Devote ourselves to Him… Trust Him…

Pastor Eugene shares the Gospel to Education majors.

Today, souls were saved as The Builders went out to distribute tracts and preach the Gospel at the beach. Led by the officers, a handful of Builders gave students, who were having their nice break at sunset, some Gospel tracts. Some had the opportunity of personally witnessing to the lost. Praise God!

After a while, the Builders gathered around at the beach to fellowship. We shared positive things about each other and that was uplifting!

We extend our heartfelt birthday greetings to our dear Pastor Eugene Daylusan. Today, August 22, is his 35th birthday. We thank God for giving us pastor to be a faithful minister to us. He has been pastoring Christ Baptist Church for about 5 years. He has also been involved in the Builders ministry since then.  He has also been a Builder during his college days in VSU, taking up Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering). Happy Birthday, Pastor!

VSU’s lower campus oval stage is our new and permanent BTO venue. Our officers have already filed a permit for us to regularly gather at the venue every thursday. We surely miss fellowshipping at Jacob’s Well, Carreno’s place and even the Gazebo, but our God, in His limitless wisdom and grace, provides!

Isn’t He worthy of our praises? See you next Thursday at the oval stage!

Ben Linville, a Bible school student from the US, came with the Student Movement for Christ, Int’l (SMCI) – Ormoc Chapter to do evangelism work in that Saturday’s ROTC training.

Despite bureaucratic hindrances which were later resolved, Ben managed to speak to about 600 cadets and cadettes, many of them raising their hands to signify trusting the Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.

Praise God for the new souls!

Marky and her Andrew Award—Boy Meets Girl by Joshua Harris.

Markemaiza Kaygerine “Marky” Labaclado, BSHRTM-4, received the Andrew Award during the Worship Service today. The Andrew Award is a quarterly award given to church members who bring the most visitors to church. The award is patterned to the Biblical character Andrew, Jesus’ disciple, who brought his brother Philip to meet Jesus.

Marky’s Andrew Award was in the form of a book—Boy Meets Girl by Joshua Harris—a Christian book on the principles of Biblical romance and courtship.

Marky is an active member of The Builders organization and the AWANA Clubs, Inc. She has also participated in trainings by the Student Movement for Christ, Int’l (SMCI), a Singapore-based organization whose goal is to aggresively reach out to students in campuses with God’s Word and the message of salvation.

Everyone gets tempted, no exemptions. Even Jesus Himself was  ”in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

On July 23, 2009, Doc Dodoy gave a message entitled “Our Best Offense, Our Good Defense” on the topic, based on the well-known Biblical account of the devil himself tempting the Lord Jesus.

“Outlined in the passsage are the three most common ways in which everyone can and will be tempted: worries, wants and worship,” he said.

When we become worried, for provision or the future for example, we can be tempted to distrust God’s plan and faithfulness. We then tend to take things on our own way.

Jesus was tempted to turn stone intro bread after 40 days of fasting in the wilderness. He countered by saying that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The Temptation of Wants v. 6

Our wants are as powerful as we want them to be. Sometimes, we can be overpowered by the things that we would like to have. Desiring too much or too early of something is not good most of the time. Jesus was tempted to jump down from the top of the temple and call on His angels to catch Him. But He didn’t. It wasn’t until Satan left Him that angels came and ministered unto Him. He left the example that not everything we want is good. Therefore, we must wait on the will of God.

The Temptation of Worship v. 9

We are tempted to sin when our vision becomes blinded with pride and hypocrisy. Satan tempted Christ to idolatry with the offer of the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. Someone has said that the glory of the world is the most charming temptation which most men are succumbed into.

We can be tempted to take pride in what we have or do. But we should not take the glory for our own. In everything that we do, we should bring the glory to God. Jesus said to Satan that only God should be worshipped and served.

In Worship, We Are His Worshippers.

We must follow Christ’s example in dealing with temptation. Everytime we are tempted, we must come to Him for help, even His Word.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
